How To Create A Marketing Character That Sticks

January 28, 2013 by AdToons

Want a way to connect with your visitors so that they come back for more and spread
the word to their friends and family about you?

And essentially, giving you FREE advertising?

Well, let me introduce you to something called a Meme. Rhymes with GREEN. Now, there are a couple different meaning for this word but I’ll cover how it relates to your marketing.

A “meme” is defined in the dictionary as — “A unit of cultural information transferable from one mind to another.”

What does this mean, exactly, and why is it relevant to your business?

Great question.

Let’s play a quick game to further explain a “Meme”.

Can you guess the product line each of these characters below promotes?

Bet you can. Let’s give it a shot.

What product do you think of when I say (the annoying) Energizer Bunny?

Or how about the Jolly Green Giant?

The Michelin Man?

Or the Pillsbury Dough Boy?

I’m willing to bet that you named all the above characters and their perspective products right on the money.

If not, here they are:

E.B. = Batteries
J.G.G. = Canned and frozen veggies
M.M.= Tires
P.D.B.= Baking goods

If you answered all the above correctly you are not alone. These characters have been burned into our memory.

These are examples of what I call advertising memes.

Lets break down each one above and analyze what more we find.

For one, each character represents its product’s benefit.

For example:

E.B. = This bunny is a symbol of never-ending energy. So it keeps on going and going. They even put that as the tag in the ads. Although annoying, it works to lock the message of good quality batteries to Energizer in our minds.

J.G.G. = The color green represents supreme health: strength and vitality.
So the giant character subliminally shows that when you eat correctly – you get big and strong almost Popeye-like. You could NOT have the Leprechaun from Lucky Charms doing any work for Betty Crocker. Too wimpy of a character.

M.M. = The man is made up of a series of tubes. The tubes that create the Michelin Man also represent the quality of ride you will receive with the tires. Almost as if you were to roll him on his side his body would float over each bump.

P.D.B. = What happens when you touch the belly of the Pillsbury Dough Boy?
It makes a slight indent and then the character giggles. Hee, hee,
hee. This character represents a fun experience when baking. Also,
the indent is a sign that your baked goods will always turn out soft and
moist.

And the most common denominator is that all of these memes listed above are characters of some kind. Three out of four of them are cartoon-like characters.

So what does this have to do with your business?

Time to get your meme created – like, YESTERDAY, Man (and Woman).

REASON BEING, once it’s created you can enjoy advertising at no cost, generating lead after lead and sale after sale. Like a small snowball that turns into a huge avalanche as it descends a mountain.

This email scratches the surface on the topic. To find out more how any business can turn themselves into a meme and make more money, grab my newest book, “The Art of Selling Using Cartoons.”

Side note: I just got an email from my publisher, and books will be arriving next week.
So I am not sure how long I will be able to hold the current pre- production price.

Jump now and all I’ll give you ALL FIVE bonuses with your package, delivered by the postman to your doorstep.

One of those bonuses includes an incredible offer of over $1,500 in discounts for working with yours truly to create your own character and meme.

Do it now, before we sell out.

Best,

Vince Palko
